How To Be An Artist by Sark '89

This is such a cool thing. I did not create it. This is created and copyrighted to Sark '89

I just thought I'd share it considering this is an art site. It's one of my most favorite framed things in the house. I read it all the time...I don't even remember how many times I've read this thing.

How To Be An Artist:

Stay loose.
Learn to watch snails.
Plant impossible gardens.
Invite someone dangerous to tea.
Make little signs that say yes! And post them all over your house.
Make friends with freedom & uncertainty.
Look forward to dreams.
Cry during movies.
Swing as high as you can on a swingset, by moonlight.
Cultivate moods.
Refuse to 'Be responsible'.
Do it for love.
Take lots of naps.
Give money away. Do it now. The money will follow.
Beleive in magic.
Laugh a lot.
Celebrate every gorgeous moment.
Take moonbaths.
Have wild imaginings, transformative dreams, and perfect calm.
Draw on the walls.
Read everyday.
Imagine yourself magic.
Giggle with children.
Listen to old people.
Open up.
Dive in.
Be free.
Bless yourself.

To be honest, I have no idea what all to say.

I could talk about my interests or what type of art I like or what I'm doing with my life.

Or.

Okay well there really isn't an or.

I like to be active and social, but occasionally I also like being calm. I feel like I'm a pretty well rounded person, and relatively balanced. Although I'm not so balanced when it comes to walking, incredibly clumsy. I laugh a lot.

I like all types of art, photography, painting, drawing, music, theater and more!

I'm currently a theater major at UCI...starting this fall.

I'll eventually add more.

  • Interests: Friends,Music, Movies, Reading, Creating, Photography, Shiny things, and other teen stuff
  • Favourite movie: There are too many to list
  • Favourite band or musician: I like too many to choose just one I'm an indecisive person

  • Favourite artist: There are many great ones out there, to me it moreso depends on the artwork

  • Favourite photographer: I pay more attention to the photograph than who took it, which works for me

  • MP3 player of choice: iPod
  • Shell of choice: Sea shells are fun
  • Wallpaper of choice: Don't care for wallpaper on walls I like paint better
  • Skin of choice: Mine?
  • Favourite game: There are a lot, just got Sims 2 for Gamecube that's a fun game so is Soul Caliber 2
  • Favourite gaming platform: Probably Nintendo, but I don't know

  • Tools of the Trade: Anything really, mostly my digital camera or phone
